Addis Skatepark is Make Life Skate Life’s upcoming project to provide the youth of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with a community space by constructing the country’s first concrete skatepark in collaboration with Ethiopia Skate, a local grass-roots community of skateboarders working to promote the accessibility of skateboarding throughout Ethiopia. Skateboarding’s popularity has been growing rapidly in Addis for several years, providing urban youth an opportunity to feel empowered, hopeful, and creative. With over 150 active skateboarders in the city, and hundreds more children eager to learn how to skate, there is a clear need for a free of charge concrete skatepark in the country’s capital and largest city.
