Africa Skateboarding Diary ("ASD", "we", "us", "our") is operated by Zanziholics Digital Agency Company Limited, based in Zanzibar, United Republic of Tanzania. We are committed to protecting your personal data and being transparent about how we use it.

This Privacy Policy applies to all ASD platforms including africaskateboardingdiary.com, members.africaskateboardingdiary.com, events.africaskateboardingdiary.com, score.africaskateboardingdiary.com, and the ASD blog.

What We Collect

We only collect personal data that is necessary to operate our platforms and services.

Newsletter subscribers:

• Email address only

Members portal (members.africaskateboardingdiary.com):

• Name and email address
• Country and city (optional)
• Bio, skate style, and any social media links you choose to provide
• Profile avatar photo (if uploaded)
• Login activity (last login date)

Content submissions (articles, photos, videos, events):

• Your name and email address
• Country or location
• The content you submit

Event registrations:

• Name, email, country, age (optional), Instagram handle (optional)
• Division and event selections

Scoring tool (score.africaskateboardingdiary.com):

• Judge names and PINs (set by event organisers)
• Scores submitted during live events

Technical data (collected automatically):

• Browser type and device type
• Pages visited and time spent (via Google Analytics, if enabled)
• IP address (anonymised where possible)

How We Use Your Data

• To operate and improve our platforms and community services
• To publish your member profile in the public ASD directory (members only — you consent to this at registration)
• To send the ASD newsletter to subscribers (you can unsubscribe anytime)
• To review and process content and event submissions
• To communicate with you regarding your account, submissions, or event registrations
• To calculate and display event results and African skater rankings
• To improve and debug our platforms through analytics

We do not use your data for automated profiling, targeted advertising, or any purpose beyond operating ASD as described in this policy.

Sharing Your Data

Your data may be accessed by:

• ASD editorial team members and volunteer staff for the purpose of reviewing submissions and managing the platform
• Cloud Zanzibar (our hosting provider) — they store data on our server at 159.198.37.34 and do not access it
• Google Analytics — anonymised traffic data only (if you have not opted out via browser settings)

Your public member profile (name, country, bio, social links) is visible to all visitors of the ASD member directory. You consent to this when you register and can update or remove your profile at any time.

Event results and rankings are published publicly on the events platform.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies to operate our platforms:

• Session cookies — keep you logged in to the members portal and admin dashboard. These expire when you close your browser or log out.
• Preference cookies — remember your dark/light mode setting via localStorage.
• Analytics cookies — Google Analytics places cookies to track page views and visitor behaviour. No personally identifiable information is collected.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Some features (like staying logged in) will not work without session cookies.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email
• Update or remove your public member profile at any time from your dashboard

Children's Privacy

ASD membership requires users to be at least 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

Users aged 13–17 should have parental or guardian consent before registering.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Significant changes will be communicated to members via the newsletter.

Your continued use of ASD platforms after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
